AND GOD DIVIDED THE LIGHT FROM THE DARKNESS
BY KAREN SANKOWSKI
My text is from Gen.1:4. When God created heaven and earth- the earth was without form, void and darkness was upon the face of the deep. And the spirit of God moved upon the face of the waters. God said: Let there be light: and there was light. God saw the light, that it was good: and God divided the light from the darkness. Gen.1:2-4. A separation took place.
When we were in the world without God Đ we were like the earth; we were without form, void, in darkness; we were unrecognizable before God.
The Levitical priest could not satisfy God for their sins or for the sins of the people. But God in His infinite wisdom would declare in Isa. 9:6 For unto us a child is born, unto us a son is given: and the government shall be upon his shoulder: and his name shall be called Wonderful, Counselor, The Mighty God, The everlasting Father, The Prince of Peace. God divided the light from the darkness.
The priest, the temple, the law and so forth, if these are the shadows; it stands to reason that the light [Christ Jesus] was already in existence. It takes light to cast a shadow.
When the angel of the Lord came upon them, and the glory of the Lord shone round about them: and they were sore afraid, and the angel said unto them, Fear not: for, behold, I bring you good tidings of great joy, which shall be to all people; For unto you is born this day in the city of David a Savior, which is Christ the lord.Lk.2:9-11. God divided the light from the darkness.
The wheat and the tares: Let both grow together until the harvest: and in the time of harvest, I will say to the reapers, gather ye together first the tares, and bind them in bundles to burn them: but gather the wheat into my barn. Mat.13:30. God divided the light from the darkness.
Two principles are at work within a believer. The natural man is subject to one principle only and that is darkness. But the inward man to the light. The apostle Paul writes about this very thing in the 7th chapter of Romans.
I find then a law, that, when I would do good, evil is present with me. For I delight in the law of God after the inward man: But I see another law in my members warring against the law of my mind, and bringing me into captivity to the law of sin which is in my members. Rom.7:21-23. How can man be in both states simultaneously?
Darkness, by itself, is quiet and undisturbed; but when the Lord sends in His light, there is instant conflict. The two are in complete opposition one with the other. And this conflict will never cease this side of glory.
When we receive Gods marvelous light, we proceed to separate ourselves from darkness- we secede or withdraw from Babylonian; and the worldly plights of men. For now nothing short of the gospel of Christ will satisfy us; and we have passed from death unto life because we love the brethren. God divided the light from the darkness.
There will be yet once more- when God will divide the light from the darkness. When time is no more; and the children of light are divided from the children of darkness.
But ye are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, an holy nation, a peculiar people; that ye should show forth the praises of Him who hath called you out of darkness into his marvelous light: which in time past were not a people: but are now the people of GodÉ For God, who commanded the light to shine out of darkness, hath shined in our hearts, to give the light of the knowledge of the glory of God in the face of Jesus Christ.
Did God desire darkness for His creation? No! God said: Let there be light and there was light. And right after that God said: the light was good. And God divided the light from the darkness.
We give thanks to our Father and to our Great High Priest; for we have been separated from darkness and brought into the light of GodŐs beloved Son. Therefore, let us walk in the light as He is in the light Amen.
