BLESS THE LORD O MY SOUL!

BY KAREN SANKOWSKI

We are now the children of God; and as such, it is right and acceptable for us to bless and praise our Father. Nor to forget His Great works, even the work He wrought in each of us. So much so, that if you don’t, it will provoke God’s wrath: as it summarized nearly 4000 years of history in Psalms chapter 78. But He, being full of compassion, forgave their iniquity, and destroyed them not; yea many a time turned He his anger away, and did not stir up all his wrath. For He remembered that they were but flesh. Psalms 106:7&8 Our Fathers understood not thy wonders in Egypt; they remembered not the multitude of thy mercies; but provoked him at the sea, even at the Red Sea. Nevertheless he saved them for His name sake, why? That He might make his mighty power known. The wrath of the Lord kindled against his people, insomuch that he abhorred His own inheritance. Many times He delivered them; but they provoked him with their counsel, and were brought low for their iniquity. Nevertheless He regarded their affliction, when he heard their cry: And remembered for them His covenant, and repented according to the multitude of His mercies. Psalms 106: 40,43,44,45. We were once like this: we provoked our God, our Father, his wrath was kindled against us; Nevertheless He saved us for His name sake; and regarded our affliction, when he heard us cry. Our Father is So Glorious, so wonder us, and Great are His manifold works: We Owe Him; every ounce of Blessing, Praise and Honor our hearts, minds, and lips can utter.

Now: I am not saying this gives us leave to do anything we want; and God will forgive us anyway; God for bid. What I am saying is:

Bless the Lord, O my soul: and all that is within me, bless his holy name. Bless the Lord, O my soul, and forget not all His benefits:

Who forgiveth all thine iniquities; Who healeth all thy diseases; Who redeemeth thy life from destruction; Who Crowneth thee with lovingkindness and tender mercies; Who satisfieth thy mouth with good things; Who executeth righteousness and judgement; Who made His ways known; Who is merciful; Who is gracious, Who is slow to anger; Who is plenteous in mercy; Who has not dealt with us after our sins; nor rewarded us according to our iniquities. For as the heaven is above the earth, so great is his mercy toward them that fear him. Who has removed our transgressions from us; as far as the East is from the West. Who like a father pitieth his children, so the Lord pittieth them that fear him. Who knoweth our frame; Who remembers that we are dust. Who’s mercy is from everlasting to everlasting; and his righteousness unto children’s children. Who hath prepared his throne in the heaven; Who’s kingdom ruleth over all; and Who the angels bless.

Bless the Lord, all ye hosts; … Bless the Lord, all His works in all places of His dominion: Bless the Lord, O my soul.  Ps. Ch. 103.

Never Forget His Great Works. Let us always! Give Praise, Honor and Blessing to our Great God and Father and the Lord Jesus Christ. Who loved us and gave himself for us.

Amen.
